Oslo Lufthavn Gardermoen (OSL) is the main airport in Norway.
There are direct flights to Oslo from most major cities in Europe.
The airport is located approximately 30 kilometers from the center of Oslo.
(It is also possible to fly to Sandefjord Luftavn, Torp.
You have to travel by train 1 ½ hours to downtown Oslo. The train, operated by VY, to and from Oslo and Skien, stops at Torp station. The shuttlebus awaits at Torp station on most arrivals*.)
We strongly receommend to travel by train downtown Oslo.
This is without a doubt the absolute fastest and cheapest way to get to the city.
The train station is on the floor below baggage claim, just one escalator down. Easy to find.
Nationaltheatret Station is situated in the centre of Oslo, within walking distance of the Royal Palace and areas such as Aker Brygge and Tjuvholmen. Please note that the station has three exits. Choose the exit "To NATIONALTEATERET"/Karl Johans Gate/Stortingsgata, this is the exit nearest your location "Bristol hotel".
There are two train companies you can choose between:
Flytoget (Airport Express), it takes23 minutes to travel from the airport to Nathionalteateret, but has a higher ticket price (approximately 23 Euro, February 2023) than regional train. Departs every 10 minutes.
VY, which is a regional train, is a cheaper alternative (approximately 12 Euro, February 2023), but takes a few extra minutes. (29 min) The train departs several times an hour.
The trains depart from two different platforms. There are information desks for both Flytoget and VY where you can get help.
You can buy tickets from ticket machines.
Price between 75 and 105 Euro depending when you travel. (Rush hour, late night etc.)
Time will be from 40 - 60 minuts depending if there are rush hour or not.
Remember to agree on a price before you travel from Oslo Airport.
Take the train!
